Student Life

Students at Virtue US are outside during class often, rain or shine.
This can look like:

A Day at Virtue University School

Our day begins with community together, prayer and a brief devotional.  This starts our day positively connected with healthy perspective, encouraging each other in our growth.  We also use this time bi-weekly, to have student mentor partners connect, with a game.

After community time, we split into our classes.  On the first week day, we start class with WIN time (What I Need), for 20 minutes of targeted student growth for each student.  Then we begin our core class schedule.  Math is scheduled at the same time across grades with the big picture in mind that when students master their current level, they can smoothly move transition to the next level without interrupting their schedule.  We are slowly growing to be a Pre-K-12 school.

Mentorship

At Virtue US every student is intentionally and prayerfully paired with another student of a different age.  These pairs, guided by the teachers, practice the skills of encouragement, teaching and learning from each other throughout the school year. After students have learned about a specific skill, they practice it with their partner during specific morning community times, special events like field days and seasonal activities.

We have witnessed the immense growth of self-confidence, self-value, empathy and leadership in all students who participate in mentorship.

Field Days

In the Fall, Winter and Spring there will be one field afternoon of joyful games that provide opportunity for us to celebrate together, while we practice encouragement, team work and make lasting friendships.

Off-site Days

As a UMSI school we follow a schedule that is similar to a university setting.  Students are on campus for particular days of the week and off-site the remaining days of the week. This benefits students three-fold:

The Gift of Time and Connection

Takes stress away from family, allows more time for extracurriculars, dinner together, family travel. Families are joyfully surprised to discover how much time is given back to the family when our success-proven university model is followed.

Independence and Identity

Virtue US grows children to gradually become guided learners by middle school and independent learners by high school. Virtue students learn about themselves and become confident in their identity and purpose.  This provides a jump-start post-high school for Virtue students.  They already have practiced time management, study, focus skills and have life direction, through our university model.

Direction and Training

Provides opportunities and the time for internships and career or college training during high school to pursue what each student is sensing a call toward.

A Day off-site for Virtue US students

Students work on off-site on the academic skill that was taught in class, while guided by their off-site family member, using the schedule and work given by the campus teacher. This is a continuation of learning, often tailored to the academic needs of the children. This will lighten the typical family load of after dinner homework outside of school while providing students with practice of time management, study and focus.  Parents are provided with training for successful student guidance and suggested schedules for off-site days are provided.  The curriculum we use is parent and ELL friendly.  The family and student benefits will be significant and noticed before the end of your first year.
